NEW PLAYER GUIDE
Posted: Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:11 pm
Hey everyone and welcome to Dragonlace GoTL Chaos Wars, we are pleased to have you here with us. Like any good servers we have written up a basic guide to what you can expect from our server to help you get started. Though if you do have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our wonderful staff who will be more then happy to help!
1. Mission Statement:
This server is designed to be a dedicated Roleplay server. We want our players to have fun as they immerse themselves in the story set at the beginning of the Chaos wars. There is much to participate in and many stories to tell. We hope you will come join us tell these stories and maybe even add a few of your own!
2. Leveling:
Leveling on our server is a slight bit different to the majority of servers you will find. Our leveling system does go to sixty. The experience you receive from the mob will be based on your level vs their challenge rating. If you review your journal under the Legendary Levels tab, we do explain a bit more about taking legendary levels and we do advise reviewing this as it is important information. Though Legendary Level XP requirement has been reduced.
3. Gear:
Currently the only way to get gear is through shops, Faction shops, monster drops and of course treasure chests, though we are still working on our crafting system and in time hope to have some of the best gear available come through the crafting system. Something you will notice on all the gear is the ILR or Item Level Requirement. This helps set the level requirements you are required to have to wear that gear. Some gear will be listed in different colors, such as boss drops and legendary items. These colors denote that they are items of importance and should be reviewed as items may have more value for things other then armor class.
4. Factions:
There are a large variety of factions to play that you can enjoy based on your play style, be it an evil Knight of Takhisis, a pure hearted good paladin Knight of Solamnia, perhaps you would enjoy being part of the Thieves Guild or the Assassins guild, or maybe the Wizards enclave? A druids faction and many more. You can even make your own faction and if worked hard enough, perhaps even make it a recognized official faction. The possibilities are endless.
5. Housing:
You are able to buy a house in game and you have the option of buying placeable items that can be placed around the house in game which is fairly available, or requesting your house to have an interior design. House sizes vary by size, from a small house to a full castle, upto having your own city. Though the cost if you ask for personal interior design may vary based on what your looking to have done. Timeline for designing is also up to the designer.
6. New to the game, what to do?
So you are brand new to the module and aren't sure what to do. After getting your character made and all setup, you will enter into the Tavern. Speak to the kender there to get your first starting quest, then head outside and just ahead is a small clickable disc on the ground, this is a small lift that will take you down from the treetops.
Once down there check the quest board in front of the temple and grab all the quests. Given you have 5000 gold, enter the blacksmiths shop and get whatever gear you might be able to afford and when you exit, the entrance to the goblin mines will be right behind it. This will begin your adventure and act as your first training area as well as helping you get coin and gear. Get some coin up after selling to the merchant and go back up the lift, run all the way behind the inn and there you will find another building, inside you will find a number of shops within, check these for lesser magic bags, healing supplies and some basic gear. Gather these then head back to the mine and continue leveling until you can beat the boss.
Upon defeating the boss, make sure you actually gather the head of the goblin and that your quest updated. If someone else kills it or your spawn, it may not update, if so you will need to kill him again to try and finish it. Once you do, go back to the temple building and step inside. Talk to the "Captain of the Guard Guard" and turn in the quest. As you will note across from him is another job board, assuming you have been gathering ears, you can now take this quest and turn them in here too. These quests are repeatable and good training early on.
If you find training has gotten too slow in the mines, then head across from the blacksmiths, past the mage and keep going straight where you will find a graveyard, this begins your next quest. From there, exploring and doing the quests is up to you!
7. I have joined the forums and the server, but is there a Discord?
Yes there is a discord where the players are very easy to find and the DMs are always happy to help! You can find our link here and just say hello so we know your here! https://discord.gg/keRZXkqxnx
8. I am having issues with a player/bug/game that is not covered in the general topics, what do I do?
If you uncover something that is not intended, please check and see if a DM is in game, if not, you can send in a ticket under our Support tab, one of our DMs will get back to you as soon as possible.
9. I wanna have a DM run a quest for me, how do I get help with that?
So here in the forums we have a Quest Request tab, and in the discord also under the support tab, we have Quest Requests. You are welcome to place a request in one or both and one of our members will get back to you about this as well.
10. A DM has done something I do not agree with, who do I talk to?
If this occurs, please take a screenshot of all relevant information, be it tells, PMs, discord messages or otherwise. Send this to our Head DM which is DRZ, and if this issue is with DRZ, you can send it directly to Nightblade and explain what's happening. They will be very happy to help you resolve this.
11. PvP:
There are certain rules regarding PVP that you should be aware of. Of course as always DMs have the final say as to any outcome, but in general the rules are as follows.
A) Have actual reasons to PVP (just being evil isnt good enough)
B) Set hostile always
C) Failure or success to kill the other, requires at least 72 hrs before any pvp can happen again between you and that player, or any arrangement to have someone else kill that player.
12. Server Team:
Our team is very invested here, Nightblade is the Owner/Admin/Host, DRZ is our Head DM and an amazing storyteller with his wife Ava_Dracon, whom also a DM who is really great for helping with issues and such, TheThird is our main Dev and works closely alongside Nightblade in scripting, then aramon_summerheart is currently the servers builder.
13. Horses:
When you have a horse, you can speak to your horse and send it back to the stables, you speak to the Stable Master again to retrieve your horse.
14. Crafting Skills:
Things like gathering, mining, smithing, fishing and more are all part of the Crafting skills which are not yet fully implemented, though is a work in progress. There will be more to come and eventually most of the best gear will come from these skills. Please note that you do not need the mechanical skills of Craft Weapon and Craft armor for any of our crafting system as we use an entirely separate system.
15. Unique Races:
We have a few Unique races with possibly more to come, these will be required to have RP tokens and in some cases an Application, you can find info about our rp token requirements here: viewtopic.php?t=204
16. Applications:
Applications must be posted on the forums to be considered. Anything not posted here will not be considered.
This player guide is meant to help players and may be updated or changed at DM discretion.
